I think there's something important to take away from this. Facepunch was merely a vehicle for us, it was never real. It's like your first car, it sucks but you love it, and eventually you have to replace it because it can only take you so far.

I've only been a member here 5 years, but it feels like a lifetime, in large part because Facepunch helped make me the person I am today. I joined as a christian evangelical creationist, and I leave as a non-religious socialist who is backing Bernie in the 2020 presidential primary I've gone from thinking being gay was wrong to filling the original science fiction story I'm developing with LGBTQ+ characters left and right - and in real life, I'm able to enjoy a weekly nerdy board game night that my uncle wouldn't have invited me to if he wasn't absolutely certain I'd be cool with his transgender friend.
I dunno if Knockout will survive, but I'm gonna try damn hard to help it have a long and fruitful life. We don't need garry. Facepunch is not a place: it's a people. So here's the next decade of shitty (and not-so shitty) source engine mods, political debates, and long-since expired memes that still make us all laugh for some fucking reason.
