That's true. What I pointed out as a possible problem is already a minor problem in forum ratings. Excellent point. In the system you are proposing, how would someone see what part of the post somebody rated? Would it display automatically on their post, or would you have to mouse over the ratings at the bottom to enable an overlay showing what sections were rated that rating?

if the rating list is added like on the old site, maybe hovering over a name would show that user's highlight for their single rating another messier option is hovering over a single rating showing all highlights for that rating but with usernames in tooltips above them but if it only shows on hover, long posts won't be nice to read highlights of unless the (expanded) rating list is sticky and scrolls up with the viewport i can also think of a few problems with using it on mobile: i'm not sure if selecting text and pressing a button will keep the selection, and hovering needs to be replaced with long-pressing if that's doable on the web, both while keeping in mind that preventing native long-press behavior for copying text and whatever other options there are will annoy to the user this is just guessing though, actually testing the feature would be more effective for finding out what works and what can be worked around

How come the full width mode has a slight border on the main page but when you go into a section or thread, it goes all the way to the edge?

The new quote/reply function sucks. If I'm replying to a long comment I should be able to edit out the unimportant bits, or highlight certain parts.

But you can edit out the unimportant bits. Look. I just omitted your edit by highlighting the first part and then hitting "quote". If I want to add another part, I just highlight and hit "quote" again and it adds it at the end.

I can't highlight specific parts of the quote. If I click anywhere it just highlights the entire quote.

i agree it would also be nice if posts had a list of posts quoting them so you could also go in the other direction

I promise you, I'm not faking. Literally highlight it with your cursor and then hit the reply button. You are welcome. Wow, this is super useful for replying to multiple posts at once. The visual layout in the reply box is much better than the old forum's way of doing it in my opinion. I like this!

Honestly, once new(new)punch goes live, someone should make a thread about custom userstyles and maybe JS scripts to enhance or alter the fp experience. Best call it "PunchCustomization"

I like the custom box too but I wouldn't mind a couple of official themes in the settings page. Though if not it's hardly a loss.

If the post you last read is on the bottom of the page, then clicking the unseen post icon takes you to the same page. Shouldn't it take me to the top of the next page (where the first unseen post is?) And there doesn't seem to be a green "read: x days ago" bar on the top of the page

I think avatar upgrade progression should probably be rebalanced. According to what we calculated on the main forums, it'd take around 12 years just to reach the standard 80x160 for gold members and something like 72 for the full 300x125. This is using the amount of coins I'd used since joining but before migration as a basis. 19 coins in 9 days with 80x160 costing 9,472 coins and the full 300x125 costing 59,417 coins.

yeah, honestly it's pretty retarded. The entire posting stuff needs a bit of an overhaul. We should be able to have a "new reply" page (like on oldpunch and any other forum I've ever used), and should be able to edit quotes directly without having to highlight shit beforehand (though that is useful and should stay in addition to being able to actually edit the quote).
