Since people are mentioning profiles again I'll post the mock profile I made earlier as an idea: Pretty much in this idea your profile would be like a thread OP that you can put whatever you feel like and edit/update when needed
im sorry for not keeping track of all the fuckin internet frogs now start up hldm so i can actually play it for once in my life
Basically what I was thinking but more horizontally-oriented. Though I prefer yours.
It'd be nice to be able to edit your own thread title, especially if it's for a megathread or something where stuff changes all the time.
Is there a way to do the proper quotes without directly quoting someone?
If there's a will there's a way to break it.
Gotta say that from first look, I really like this new board.
Could we get a cap in price for pixels? like once you get to 25 coins per pixel, its always 25 per pixel?
are these avatar sizes locked in
On mobile there seems to be some weird text wrapping going on.
When I paste the image link it does it automatically for me
Weird it doesn't for me https://i.imgur.com/kOL3DUS_d.jpg?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium
Is automatic .webm embedding planned to be added (or is it already in)?
Go into the meta subfourm and test there, if something you want doesn't work request it
So are there any plans for mobile avatars? ;(
Is it possible to attach a quote to a post? So whoever I quoted gets notified and everything
are we getting any replacements for some of the old ratings? I'm having to make cookie and child molester do for like 5 different meanings.
this is probably my most favorite out of context quote of all time now
Was account migration implemented yet? and if so how do you do it?
Yeah, go here for it https://auth.facepunch.com/legacy/start
It looks fresh, has consistent editor and design. BTW, I don't see way of backwards compatibility. Why don't you support login through Facepunch account anymore? I already have it and trust it, because only password hash and username are used as credentials (aren't they?). Why I ever need totally another account from Google or Facebook? Second thing. Old urls (from facepunch.com) now redirect to parent forum, but not to certain thread/post. Examples: this one and many others (gamemodes and addons official threads).
I think the new forums feel very modern and nice -- however, I have an issue particularly with the colors of the Garry's Mod section. Oldpunch had very gray neutral colors and it wasn't overbearingly white. I'd really like to see us be able to maybe choose some styles for the sections to make them easier to read. I'm also not 100% on tossing out old threads and user data. There's both a lot of funny (some guy asking to put a walrus penis on knuckles) and helpful (CaptainBigButt's proportion/rigging tutorials are gold) stuff that we'd be losing. I realize Facepunch maybe wasn't intended to be a place for some pretty nifty and great Source guides, but that's what it ended up being due to the attachment with GMod -- and just tossing that out would be really shitty imo. It would be good if we could add ?=archive or /archive somewhere in our existing links and just have them pop up, so we don't lose all our bookmarks and just have to modify them a little. Other than that and the color in the GMod section -- I'd really like Twitter auth. The new forums feel super sleek though and modern, things load fast, etc.
Hey, GMod forum user here. There was a ton of highly-useful information for developers on the developer discussion subforum. Will those posts be migrated or at least archived at a near date?
everything will be migrated my dudes
Part of the reason we require an external link is to prevent alt accounts and to provide an easy way to log in. We can change each individual forum's CSS so I'd imagine that will be a thing. The Rust forums already have it, although it may be dependent on how you get to them? All the old threads are going to be imported so don't worry about that.
No offence, but you're not going to prevent alts through that. It's EASIER for me to make alts if anything, considering I have like 5 Gmail accounts I just have to hit and sign in on. Unless there's something I'm missing. Convenience is the big factor here, and having your passwords handled by a more trustworthy source. It's better this way, considering you needed an email before anyway. If we can definitely change individual forums CSS that would be great, because I genuinely get a lot of eyestrain looking at pure white webpages (90% of the internet) Thanks for letting me know about the old threads being imported, that's perfect. May I ask about the people who were on the verge of getting Gold? are they just boned? I'm not really sure how to split quotes anymore, so sorry for replying to it like this.
We don't know the date of the official switch over yet. There might be time for people to earn Gold. Garry has marked accounts as being Gold so there's obviously something that they'll get. Given that people have Gold on this forum I'm sure there'll be a way to earn it on here.
I think the emoji are nice for the post icons but one of my favorite features of the old forum is the descriptive thread icons. Will we be getting more (descriptive) icons in the future?
Thanks! I more so mean for the people who almost had it and were like a couple post away, but if post count gets migrated -- it's not really an issue. Just tried logging in and out, so much faster and convenient. Thank you. <3 Another two notes: I would really like to see quoting act in the old style where I can split apart longer post and reply to them individually. It just helps keep up with the conversation when you know what the person is replying to exactly from a longer post. The Emoji seems a little blurry/stretched out, as if it's being upscaled. I would suggest we make Emoji that fits the current size of the reacts. That's obviously not a priority, though.
