I feel like the levels might be a bit easier to read if they weren't grey on grey, especially for the lower levels.
Yep
Later levels get a bit more colourful
perhaps change the level size to 0.65rem and top -2px?
vs
I've much prefered Garry since he was raised to the seventh power, though.
I'm digging the percent-til-next-level bar. Well done.
Agreed. It's an effective tool to determine how close you are to the next level, especially considering the fact that we don't actually know specifically how to get levels.
You can easily accelerate your leveling up process by rating this post Coin, and by checking multiple forums in multiple sections daily as well as making at least 2 posts each day
I figured there was a daily posting requirement. It's interesting to me that simply checking in on each forum also increases the level. I think that's a great way to connect the populations of the subforums. I always felt like on the old forums, each subforum was like its own little island, almost cut off from the rest of Facepunch with regards to the posters who frequented it. If people are rewarded for checking into different subforums, they'll be exposed to more of Facepunch. Neat.
The mere fact that garry isn't level 120 already shows that there are severe lack of evidence on any exp coefficient influence other than a daily login or posting requirement.
The idea with level/coin earning is to encourage participation, without encouraging spamming. So while viewing the forum does increase your level, pressing F5 every second isn't going to increase it. And while posting once will increase your level, posting a million times won't increase it by a million times one post would.
Is there a cap in the levels or do the requirements just increase exponentially?
Yeah it's exponential

Could we get a progress bar for level progress instead of the hover text on our level indicator? Possibly under avatars, starting with colour red for minimal progress fading to colour green for near-levelup progress?
That just creates a level of visual clutter that isn't really needed imo. What's wrong with mousing over?
A weird idea I had for spending coins would be a "boosted rating", like you could spend a certain amount to rate a "BIG FUNNY". It'd be just like rating "funny" but it would increase the size of the "funny" icon on that post.
I agree. In my opinion, one of the most unique aspects of Facepunch is the absence of typical forum clutter. No signatures, traditional ranks, or otherwise distracting bling.
Would you actually find something like this "visually cluttery", and like a signature / distracting bling?
I just think it's a neat meter since we already display someone's current level, why not include something like this?
That picture is the very definition of clutter, so I don't understand the question.
okay nvm then
So technically you can level infinitely, although realistically it'd be impossible?
Level requirements increase exponentially
So does bitcoin mining requirements, but they have a cap at 21,000,000
Is there a way of seeing your own level progress without hovering over one of your posts?
Are the levels going to be implemented in a barrier/reward system or just for show?
If you rate a post Coin or Diamond, you can no longer change your rating for that post. Gonna commit to that donation.
I think it's just for show to be honest
That's a good idea. Forum ratings shouldn't have charge backs.
