This is one of my all-time favorite short movies, and I wish there was a full film based on it. It's extremely powerful, and fun to think about the world. The sequel that is fantastic too.
Speaking of haunting imagery, has there been anyone able to capture the dread and surreal nature of the Scary Stories illustrations? I imagine due to the controversy at the time there could have been several copycats or other media like it to go along with the popularity.

The guy who made all of those demake videos of video games make his own short spooky game. It's not amazing by any stretch, and there aren't any jumpscares, but it's alright.

I keep thinking of Junji Ito often whenever someone re-posts it without context so I don't blame you confusing it with another similar Japanese horror story.
I actually thought it was a Junji Ito comic until today. That explains why I've had so much trouble finding it when I've looked in the past.

i used to live in oki, this spoopy ghost is a real thing i seen her once. I lived just about two miles from Courtney, was there frequently. My own home (i lived off base) had a tomb in the back yard. You'd better believe spooky ass shit happened in my house. First night we slept there, I had the dubious honor of seeing a shadow peek into my doorway then run down the hallway in the direction of the tomb (The way the house was angled, the hallway was a straight shot to the master bedroom, that also had a backdoor onto the patio with the tomb being set a little ways past the back door). I also several times saw things jumping from rooftop to rooftop on some of the buildings around my own home. Spooky shit let me tell you.
This sounds a whole lot like certain tracks from Earthbound, with the winding up and down tones

Guuugh That's something I wish to never experience in my life, which makes it awkward when a indie game developer makes a game based on the county where your summer home is.
