Also also the background of new posts shouldn't be 0xffffff, it should be something in between.
For post backgrounds you should offer a "preview" option. That way people can see how it'll look before finalizing the purchase.

Ratings appear gray/lightened on posts (not sure if its intentional) but shouldn't they be in their full colour, and the rating you chose be grayed/lightened?

huh that's weird, so if someone changes their background and you reload the page, first reload will not show the bg, but second reload will.
