The foot kick is actually super important in a double-kong. Its like a kick that keeps you up a bit longer.
With farther/higher kongs, most of the traceurs that I know (that can do it) are nearly doing a handstand through the air. It's what's keeping me from doing anything close to that far, since it's terrifying. Although I've gotten stuff 2/3 of that.. in a nice gym with nice foam blocks and a nice bouncy floor.
