So I've been trying to sorta create an adventure in Spore about Alien Planet and I've been trying to get things more like the movie with the sea striders, so I put up a little mountain in the sea for Ike to head for and well one sea strider ended up investigating the mountain.

The hat also came out in 2007 i believe, and was severely limited even then (I believe the requirement was 1337+ page views... back when 50 players was peak). It has not been re-released, because it is an event hat.
Compared to TF2 unusuals, it is pretty rare.

Most people who buy for that much aren't doing it for "looks", they're doing it for its rarity which translates to market value. They'll spend that much because they will most likely have items of similar value and they plan on turning around and selling/trading the hat in some other fashion. Yeah they'll wear it for the time they have it, but it's simply too much of investment to keep if your paying actual cash for it.
Its disgusting actually.
