When you snowboard, you are turned perpendicular to where you're going, when you ski you face parallel.

With snowboarding, you rely on leaning and switching from your left foot foreward to your right foot foreward to manuever and turn. You cant do either with one leg OR a ski. Also, if you try to do a snowboard turn with a ski you flip right the fuck over.
