I was forced to learn how to prove a line is equal to the length of another, using an exact-to-the-point steps in exact-to-the-point order. I had to use that exact method, or it was considered wrong. Mathematical proof was dumb as shit. I'd go out on a limb and say that 90% of jobs [I]don't[/I] involve knowing the exact and proper form of mathematical proofing.
Okay, say I'm planning to be a computer technician. Fuck all if I need to know details of the United States circa mid-1800's. Or how the government handles the economy. Or ionic bonds. Etc. Etc.
Most of the mandatory stuff in high school is irrelevant to 90% of occupations. Electives are a godsend simply because my school gives a shit ton for different careers, but a lot of mandatory classes are bull.
