I'm not saying it would be smart to start the engine like that but it would be safe. Comparing chainsaw to a gun is somewhat stupid. A gun might go off if force is applied, but in order for the chainsaw to operate both the trigger and the dead man's handle need to pressed, so unless the whole mechanism just completely breaks while you're starting the engine, the blade won't move.
