They've been there for years. He used to use them for slapstick comedy. He stopped using them but I guess they've made a return.

I think they used to symbolize Player 1 and Player 2, but after awhile they just became generic people.
They've been in cad for ages, the numbers are their player numbers (player 1, player 2 etc). Kind of dumb but still explained. As for why they are coloured... I guess it's like where different players are different colours?
