Well first of all, global warming is taking effect already, but I'm pretty optimistic about a solution. Doomsday theories are bullshit, Earth can be fixed and it must be fixed if we don't want our children, maybe their children, to bear the consequences. Denying these problems is absolute bullshit. It isn't a matter of belief, it's a matter of fact. Also humans caused it.
I have to extremely disagree with your statement that global warming has been going on since the Earth was created. During the Permian period, it was much warmer than now, mainly because the Supercontinent Pangaea came to existence, which caused an immense expansion of deserts on land. This event triggered an mass extinction, even greater than the extinction event that killed the dinosaurs, by far. (The Cretaceous extinction event is placed 5th in the list of great extinction events.)
You want some numbers? The Permian-Triassic extinction caused 96% of all marine species and 70% of all terrestrial vertebrates. It could happen again in a few billion years... when a new Pangaea is formed.
