XKCD (www.xkcd.com) is an extremely nerdy webcomic. The art sucks, but the jokes are good if you can understand them. Some people love it, some hate it. The name is supposedly meaningless, just a random set of letters that can't be pronounced as a word (Exkacidy? Xakacduh?).
42 is, according to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything, as is well-known to extreme (or British-humor-loving) nerds. Almost everyone who likes XKCD knows that, which makes it funny.
Thanks for the explanation! :buddy:
I've read this webcomic alot, and i've also read "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
Though, my memory is not very good, so i forgot it all.

Actually the real story is that when the very first self operating computer started actually working (perform calculations and what not) the scientists and computer guys wrote into the program "What is the meaning of life" and the computer came up with 42. History lesson for Facepunch

Just because they died, doesn't mean no one cares any more.

They didn't ask "What is the meaning of life"
They asked "What is the answer to the ultimate question?"
I love it when they make direct-to-dvd sequels of classics with completely different actors who no one has heard of or cares about
