Erika had barely put the strap of the Intel over her shoulder when she heard the pump of a SPAS-37 shotgun. "Just put that darn thing right back where you found it, lady", a thick Southern accent scowled through gritted teeth. "*sigh* Not again...", she thought. She had been in this situation almost every time the team was assigned to capturing intelligence. She'd zip past the enemies, crack a few skulls when she needed to, and end up staring down the barrel of a shotgun wielded by an Engineer, just when she was about to take the briefcase. But being in this situation so many times caused her to add a new tactic to the monotonous sequence of events. She slowly moved her hand to the strap, as if to comply with this egghead's demands.
And then, just as her fingers touched the strap, she raised her foot and swung it viciously into her aggressor's crotch. The Engineer barely had time to let out a cry of pain before she drew her USP Match, and fired four very precise shots; one in each ankle, one in each hand, just as Adam had trained her. Another succesfull incapacitation on her part. "Rrrgh, nawht again...", the Engie grumbled, humiliated by his defeat. With a calm disposition, Erika grabbed the Intel, and knelt down before her fallen foe. With a cheeky grin, she removed his hard-hat, and spoke the words she had spoken over and over again those recent months, as if this had become routine. "Same time next week, Overalls?". And with that, she patted his head, and drew her Scattergun, dashing out of the room.
Once again, she heard the three beeps of the Sentry that she'd bypassed a few minutes ago. Calmly, she waited by the wall, and waited for that familiar sound that she now associated with safety. First came the clunk of metal on metal. Then came the frazzling sound of electrical systems being fried. As the Sentry beeped signs of horrified distress, Erika walked out of the Hallway, and into the Basement. She caught a glimpse of the Sentry before it exploded into chunks of broken metal. And there, behind the wreckage, was Raziel, the team Spy.
"Almost an insult, this precarious placement", he remarked with disdain. "After all these months, you'd think he would've learned something? In the end, this kind of mission is all the same: rush the base, grab the case, pick up the pace, elude the chase." "Well, with a guy like that in charge of defence, who can blame them?", Erika replied. "Indeed", Raziel replied. "And speaking of chase, we'd best find an exit quickly. Now we have their briefcase, they know where we are." A cacophony of feet started to echo down the Spiral, accompanied by angry muffled yells. They knew better than to stay in the basement, so they made haste to the L-Shaft. They barely turned the corner when Erika looked back to see two Pyro's hot on their tail.
The chase was now on. They rushed up the stairs, with Raziel firing off a few shots from his Reaver Blaster as he backpedalled into the Courtyard. As they jumped off the wooden ledge, Erika saw Zack waiting in the corner, chuckling maniacaly at the Orbs he had deployed around the edge of the doorway. Narrowly dodging a Heavy, she dived into the Entryway before hearing several energetic explosions and caprine laughter, which sounded similar to bleating. Quite a fitting laugh to go with Zack's goatlike physiology and features. She had lost track of Raziel, and was unsure whether he was still alive until she saw a kill icon in her peripheral vision: RazTheReaver + ZackDaeman --> DancingSandvich.
Suddenly, she found herself knocked down on her back, and looked up to see a Scout standing over her, Scattergun aimed at her head. It was only aimed there for a moment, as later it flew out of his hands, due to the fact he had just been stabbed in the face with an Ubersaw by a Night Elf. Sandra helped Erika back up, and she dusted herself off. "You ok?", Sandra asked, as the machine on her back, Perry, aiming it's healing nozzle at Erika. "Yeah, just a little bruised", she replied, as she was enveloped in healing plasma. Healing was always a pleasant experience, with the pain fading and the broken matter of the body reconstituting itself. Perry was a great healer, even in his past life as a doctor.
When he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, his life seemed as if it was over. But with a bit of science and magic, he was able to continue his lifelong passion for healing, his mind and spirit fused to the healing device that had been grafted onto Sandra's back. From then on, the two had a symbiotic relationship as team Medic, with Perry healing, and Sandra casting her magickal buffs, as well as the general combat side. "There, you're better", he announced. "Now hightail it back to base. That intel won't deliver itself". Erika sped off after thanking the good doctor, and passed Ivan as she headed towards the bridge, hearing the phrase "Is team time, Doktor!" as she moved towards her team's base.
"Heh, too easy", she thought as neared the base entrance. But then something happened that she didn't expect. An enemy Soldier dropped off the bridge roof, clutching two grenades in his hands. As he slammed them together, he yelled "GRENADE BABIES!" as they exploded, sending Erika flying backwards into the waters below. After recovering from the shock and pain of the explosion, she swam to the Pipe leading to her base's underground. As she turned the corner, a rocket exploded beside her. The Soldier was still after her. She found herself near the Alcove, when she spotted Damien in his blood-red battle robes, smoking his signature smokeless pipe. "Quick, get outta the water!", he said, as he drew his Staff. "Ready to see somethin' awesome?", he added. Erika barely had time to reply, when the staff glowed bright blue, and the Soldier turned the corner. Holding on with his right hand, Damien plunged one end of the Staff into the water, and raised his left hand, enclosed in a fist and glowing with red-hot energies.
The Soldier barely had time to make a derogatory claim about maggots before Damien opened his left hand, and massive arcs of electricity coarsed through his body from the walls, travelling down through the Staff, and into the water. The water glowed bright blue, and the Soldier was burnt to a crisp by the energies coarsing through him. Damien then withdrew the Staff from the water, and popped open a Mana Potion, downing it thirstily. "How's that for a fireworks display, huh?", he grinned as he threw the empty potion bottle against the wall. "It's ok, the water's safe now". Erika ran off down the tunnel, and- "AAACH!", she yelled as the waters burned her feet. "...it's just a bit on the hot side, that's all...", Damien added with embarrasment. "Sorry!"
She exited the waterways, and returned to the Entryway. To her right, she saw Blaze chasing an enemy Spy, swinging at his burning flesh with the Axtinguisher. As she entered the Courtyard, she narrowly dodged another Soldier, who promptly received a pulsed blast to the head for his troubles. She looked up and saw Adam standing at the top of the L-Shaft, his Scoped Pulse Rifle still smoking from his recent shot, and a smile of satisfaction on his face. "Hey there, girl", he waved to Erika. "Hey", she replied as she walked up the steps. She stood next to him for a moment, then kissed him on the cheek before running down the L-Shaft back to the Basement.
Adam rubbed his cheek in surprise. "Did she just kiss me?", he pondered in disbelief. The two had been close friends for months, and all of a sudden she kissed him... It had been too long since he had last been kissed. Too many years had passed since he had last been in love with another person. 8 years since that fateful day when Diane was killed. He, Kain, Raziel, Diane, and Blaze, had just defeated Robert Page, the world had been freed from the grip of Majestic-12. All of a sudden, Page's lapdog JC decloaked behind Diane, and ran her through with the Dragon's Tooth sword. Before anyone could react, she fell to the floor, bleeding to death, and JC had scarpered like the hit-and-run coward that he was. Adam rushed towards her, but there was nothing they could do. She was bleeding out heavily, and she died in his arms. Initially, he was merely shocked, but was confident that she would be respawned like the rest of his species was when they were killed.
But once they returned to Borealis City, the hub of Felan civilisation, he found that Freeman refused to ressurect her, saying that she was "a distraction to his true destiny, as defender of the faith". This drove Adam into a flurry of rage, sorrow and loss, refusing his apparant destiny and demanding that Freeman ressurect her. Freeman merely scolded Adam for his insolence and maintained his refusal, which was rather uncharacteristic of Gordon's normally benevolent and charitable nature. Adam was too wracked by anger and sadness to notice this uncharacteristic behaviour, and declared his self-excommunication, leaving Felan society behind him. In the end, this had bad repercussions for Felan society, with Freeman banning respawning to all but those who stay in or enter into military service to him, forcing them to remain garrisoned in his territories. He also decreed that this sanction would remain in place until Adam repented and accepted his destiny.
Such a decree caused millions of Felans to excommunicate themselves like Adam did, although millions of others chose to comply, which often broke up families formed when most Felans settled down after the Liberation War in the 20's. Adam refused to comply, regardless, declaring that he would only return after Freeman ressurected Diane. The world changed a lot in those last 8 years. Kain rose to power as he had in Nosgoth so long ago. A new set of more efficient Pillars were raised to lock out certain dimensions that would be a threat to the Earth, such as the Combine Overworld. Kain's empire spread across the globe, with a new, much more balanced and freedom-oriented reigeme than the one MJ12 used. Freeman's armies claimed certain territories for themselves in an effort to establish an empire to rival Kain's.
Both sides were locked in a Cold War scenario of paranoia and mutual distrust. Whilst Kain maintained his guiding hand over most of Europe, Africa and Asia, Freeman took control of the Americas, Australasia, and Scandinavia. Kain trusted Adam despite his origins, and even offered him a place in the new Circle of Nine, as Conflict Guardian. Adam politely declined, saying that his destiny lay elsewhere. But where it lies, he still doesn't know... "Adam... Adam? You having some kinda flashback, mate?" Adam's attention turned back to the present, and found Damien's hands on his shoulders, trying to get him to snap out of it.
"Uh, I was just remembering...", Adam replied. "Just remembering". "Well, good news is that we've captured the Intel", Damien explained. "Bad news is that we've gotta wait half an hour for it to decode, and BLU's coming to stop us". Footsteps resounded up the L-Shaft, and Beverly marched towards them, noticably pissed off. "Adam, Damien, what the fuck?", she yelled. "I've got enemy Scouts running wild down here, way more than usual! You're supposed to pick them off as they run across the bridge, aren't you?" Damien was about to explain what had happened, when a cacophony erupted in the Entryway. A violent orchestra of aluminum bats and Bostonian battle cries swarmed towards the Courtyard, and the three teammates beheld a sight that would cause even the bravest of men to wet their pants.
"Mother of mercy...", Damien murmured in horror as he saw the sea of baseball bats wash over the Courtyard like water on the beach. "SCOUT RUSH!"
...To be continued?
Nice story.
wtf
After noticing that the low quantity of lighting in the map (which I used to shoot the first part for my comic) was way too dark and made everything look like shit, I re-did the whole posing and shooting part which only took me couple of hours. But now they look better and I did a bit more scene build.
Will edit it tomorrow.
:colbert: why're you writing TF2 fan fiction
It's a storied multiverse i've brewed in my head for years.

Though I did get to that level, trench gun + fast reload + fast fire = more corpses than Stalin can shake a stick at.
I would read, if I wasn't that lazy right now

Funny, I imagine my "universe" by the design, the look of it, more than events/story-wise

Really, I don't smoke anything. Nothing at all. My creativity is genuine, not drug-enduced.
And I has a sketch book!
You're weak! If something hit your head and you have amnesia, BAM! Bye bye multiuniverse!

I have some of the things written down as transcripts for when I get the skills to make my multiverse into a comic series. If I do forget things, these "transcripts" will serve to remind me.
