Yes, money does go into it. But what people also fail to realize is that, contrary to popular belief, you don't need a GTX XTREME 100005604944 GPU to play games on the highest settings with good framerates.
Fuck man, for 2 years I played games on an Intel Pentium Dual Core and an HD 5570. Total of $200 to get those, plus a new PSU, new mobo, and new RAM.

I'll play games with him for hours on steam and we'll have a great time, but as soon as I don't want to play with him or want to play different game he starts trying to make me feel bad and wont give up. He like a fucking child, I love the guy but he's spoilt as fuck, he got his parents to get him a £600 gaming PC one year after getting him a laptop, he gets any game he wants anytime.
He wants me to buy Aliens: colonial marines, I told him I don't have enough and I'm starting to save up for a better CPU seeing as mine is from 2005 and can barely keep up, I had £15 and bought antichamber. Oops, he was on my back for the whole fucking day. God damn it man.

I have an Intel Pentium Dual Core. (Using Nvidia GT 210)
The only problem is the low frame rate in some games when there are some effects or too much players in the same place. (TF2, gmod, Super MNC).
Should I increase my ram or something?

Ok, although I will admit that I don't know as much about computers as I probably should for this arguement, but if you paid the launch price for the 360 for a pc, I'm still pretty sure it wouldn't be able to play deus ex or ac3 unless you had the settings really really low.
You also mentioned those parts that cost $200 all together that lasted you 2 years. In english money that's roughly £120, mine cost me £80 and I've had it well over 2 years without having to upgrade to a new console.
Just recently I did a complete system overhaul that cost me $400, but I'm futureproofed now. That old system I had was still using pretty old hardware, and with all the new i-series CPUs becoming the norm my motherboard was just too old.
Now the next time I upgrade something it's just gotta be my GPU, which will only be $100-200, and that will last me for a long time.
PC parts are expensive, but they last a while

The GTX 210 is pretty shitty. The HD 5570 is two times better than that. I don't think you can find them anymore on Newegg though. I picked mine up for $60. Neat little card.

With that old setup I had, Source games ran like a breeze. The only game I had real difficulty playing was STALKER: Call of Pripyat, but that's mostly because it simply fails to launch if I don't run it in DX10/DX11. Borderlands 1 ran pretty damn well, too, but T-Bone Junction was extremely laggy.

Everything in GD is still there, just click "Last Post By" twice. Something went wrong and for some reason threads are sorted by date of creation. I think the mods are fixing it.
Well, PC gaming is more expensive initially, cause it's expensive to start out, and you upgrade your parts every few years (if you want to stay up to date) while with consoles you only have to pay every 6-7 years, and its usually less expensive anyway.
However, there's so many deals for PC games, it equals out overall pricing pretty quickly. I did some calculations, and I've found out that by buying all my games on sale, I've saved over $200. I don't even have that many games, about 25.

My car being out of service. I heavily depend on it, so it's a really massive inconvenience. It's also too old to fix up, so I need to wait for my credit union to approve the car loan I want to take out. Hopefully that all goes through by Monday, as I've got to work again on Tuesday.
