Since when were first impressions not allowed?
since dgg [editline]1st February 2011[/editline]
That's pretty much how I recognize it. I mean, Mandrin Chinese is just so hard to learn with all those kanji and such. Seriously, how does anyone learn that? It's pretty much hieroglyphics. At least Japanese has an alphabet.
they learn it since their youth so it's not that hard
Fun fact: Standard, or Mandarin Chinese is the most spoken language in the world. Next comes Spanish, then English. Japanese is 9th.
Fuck yes it is. Just because it's a family language (a group name for lots of different languages) and the actual languages have different names they're still Chinese languages.
The two major dialects Mandarin and Cantonese sounds nothing alike.
The two major dialects Mandarin and Cantonese sounds nothing alike.
Danish people don't understand eachother because they speak differently, they still speak Danish. A dialect is a dialect and has it's origins in a language. We have tons of dialects in Norway too and many people have problems understanding some dialects, that doesn't mean they don't speak Norwegian.
since dgg
Since never.
You do realize that "Chinese" is not a spoken language right?
I know, but I'm not going to enumerate all the dialects and sublanguages one by one and I'll just say "Chinese" in order to simplify things
-snip, misunderstood-
Fun fact: Standard, or Mandarin Chinese is the most spoken language in the world. Next comes Spanish, then English. Japanese is 9th.
Mor like common school knowledge.
I know, but I'm not going to enumerate all the dialects and sublanguages one by one and I'll just say "Chinese" in order to simplify things
That wasn't really my point. Cantonese is the one that sounds more like "Ching Chong Chang" or the stereotypical "pan dropping sounds". Mandarin sounds a lot more "gentle" and have lots of words such that blends similarly into the Japanese spoken language.
Mor like common school knowledge.
Actually, most of my friends think that English is the most spoken, with Spanish coming next. I was actually surprised when I saw the statistics, but realized that China is so densely populated, and most must know this language.
I certainly do :mmmsmug:

English is the most worldwide spoken language and most useful. But Chinese and Spanish are the most spoken in terms of numbers, but in more closed areas of the earth.

But Chinese and Spanish are the most spoken in terms of numbers, but in more closed areas of the earth.
The "enclosement" of Spanish language could be arguable, since it's spoken in a wide range of territory: All South/Center America except for Brazil, the Guyanas and some spare territories or islands; Spain; Equatorial Guinea, Morocco territories next to Spain and part of the United States, mainly the south and the states next to New York; while (Mandarin) Chinese is restricted to China But, yes, English is much more widespread and it frequently ends up being more useful
