Well it should be fairly obvious for starters that Air used "magic" more than any of the other two series, the [sp]main character of the show turning into an animal for the last quarter of the show[/sp] and a two or so episode arc occurring taking place in feudal japan. Then Kanon had characters utilize magic again in a way that I would call more tasteful, and finally Clannad just toning it down all the way and kind of getting the magic part all the way, doing it very tastefully with [sp]Fuko[/sp], then saving the rest of said element pretty much for the very end of the show.
As far as the setting is concerned, Kanon and Air are both around a school, but you never get to see any of the actual school life, just the events after school is over, for the most part. Clannad takes place almost entirely within the school excluding one or two arcs.

Had a nightmare just now, pretty fucking creepy in my eyes.
I started off a Marisa, being a cool girl I went to the city to drink some sake or whatever (this happened in my hometown). Walking over a bridge I must walk over every day IRL a car comes speeding at me, and hits me pretty fucking hard. I pass out and wake up bound to SOMETHING (can't remember) then I see a man walk into the room. He starts cutting me open, dismembering me and stuff, I feel SOME KIND of pain during the dream, and in the end he pulls out my heart and I die.
At this point I'm scared as hell, because I was just a pretty girl who was murdered, then... SOMETHING MORE happens.
I either reincarnate as Flandre or I simply change into her form or whatever. We're at the house I live in, when I get the news about Marisa's death (No, Remilia, Patchy, Sakuya etc. weren't there, apparently I lived alone with my dad), I was pretty shocked for several reasons. The first one being "Oh god, Marisa is dead" the second being "Oh god, this is a sequel to the first arc, meaning the guy is still around". I dno, for some reason I thought I should head to the town again. This time I walk over the bridge with no problem. I come over to nearby where my mom lives when I see the same car that hit Marisa. I'm scared as a fucking little girl, partially because I AM. (Also, you may have realized, but no powers, just taking their form :l That means no flying)
So I lean in towards the wall, hoping not to be spotted, but since this is a nightmare, I am not that lucky.
He drove towards me, crushing me into the wall, completly destroying my legs. The pain I felt at this point was insane, holy hell. But anyway, the man kept driving forwards and backwards on me, continuing to crush me against the wall, and since I'm not able to run, I'm just getting crushed slowly (Yeah, he drove forwards and backwards quite slow)
I talk a bit with the guy, cry a bit, then I learn that his dream is that all pretty blonde girls must die painful deaths. I was obviously moe-Flandre, because I was just crying, begging the guy for mercy etc. but he just kept driving splattering my blood on the wall. Okay, so SOMEHOW I get out of this, and my legs seem to have repaired (It was a dream after all, weird stuff happens), so I start running. I can't remember it that clearly anymore, but I remember something with a map (It had some importance, I just can't remember it), and me running home. I called dad, he told me he'd come right there (Not sure what help he'd be though), so I wake up as the guy is running towards me, he's faster than me and all that jazz. So I wake up.
I am still tired, but if I go to bed I may continue this dream, whatdo?
