The ending episode wasn't all that bad though, or well, the episode itself was sorta bad, but the way to end it all was kinda nice, it also explains it all much better, rather than history changing every time a new arc starts it just follows the same timeline up to the point where the girl ruins the possibility of him hooking up with the girls that were in the previous arcs, meaning he just gets together with the girls in the arcs later and later in time rather than around the same time.

If you haven't watched it already, Gurren Lagann, also by Gainax. Saying it (literally) takes the mecha genera to a whole new level is not enough to describe how beautifully awesome it is

I've started watching it, a couple of episodes in. Enjoying it so far, it's ridiculous, quite funny and full of action.
If there's something along those lines that's a bit more serious... doesn't even have to involve mecha, but something with the similar emotional/mental punch that Eva throws.
