Because this is not 'real' pain. It is your brain projecting pain. No nerves are actually being injured in this case. Your brain just THINKS it is getting taser-ed.

Only possible explanation i could think of
take the pill, then when i graduate, invent a pair of mechanical ears. Though it does depend on which part of the hearing is lost, be it in the ear or in the brain

Its in the brain, because the part that shocks you is also, strangely, the part that controls your hearing. So for the shocks to stop you have to kill off that part of the brain.
