Well, I played the demo, and... well, It just didn't seem scary. I didn't feel threatened in-game and the insanity thing was just plain annoying, and with the invisible creature in the water that attacked you, meh. It surprised me the first time, but It felt like a platformer game with lava/acid. You fall off the platform, and you're fucked.

demo != full game
Well, it's suppose to be a spoonful of the game, and I didn't like the taste.
Well it isn't even like the full game at all, controls and physics sure. If anything the demo is a tech demo. It's basically a "spoonful of milk without the cereal".
Gameplay, atmosphere and even the level structure, is way different. This is easily the scariest game I ever played surpassing Call of Cthulhu, Clock Tower, Haunting Ground, Silent Hill and Penumbra itself.
I might buy Penumbra, but it's not much of the demo if you're not going to show much.
I'm more scared of the fact that "There's something around the corner, and it's out to kill me", which wasn't present in Amnesia.
