- Technically, LGA 1366 is already obsolete, thanks to Intel and their stupidity with changing the sockets all the damn time within the iX series
-i7 is excessive, if you are only planning to use it for gaming.

Uh, no. The LGA 1366 is going to support the newer cores too unless they make an ever newer one. The LGA1156 Socket is the obsolete one.
I don't use this PC only for gaming. I know very well the reasons you would want a dual core instead of a quad core for gaming.

Well no. Quad cores are better than dual cores in terms of gaming, because games are more optimized for multicore rendering now. However, I was stating that you do not need 4 additional logics cores over the existing 4 when it come to gaming, aka the i7, because the differences are barely noticeable.
