I dunno, I use Zoom Player.
But i am impressed it picked up one line of subs that VLC failed to (even though it looks like utter shit in mpc) and i think VLC is blurred because it stretches the video a tad.

Change the renderer in the Options menu to something like VMR7, restart the player and use Alt+I

It's a player that uses the same framework as CCCP, FFDSHOW, that is DirectShow version of FFMPEG. In other words it's kick-ass.

For comedy i'd suggest watching Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (any of the seasons), Hayate no Gotoku and possibly Excel Saga.
I'd also like to suggest Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and CLANNAD, too. Two of my favorite anime and somethign i'd recommend to anyone.

I'm on windows and I use SMPlayer due to [I]fairly superior[/I] performance. Also there is no Mac version.
(in other words my laptop can't handle SD h.264 any DirectShow-based codecs)
