It's good, although it is noticeably old. Some people say it draws parallels with Evangelion (same studio and director), but I didn't really see any.

Well Gunbuster 2 (also known as Diebuster) isn't nearly as old as the original, so the stuff I said above doesn't really apply to it. Gunbuster 2 is sort of like FLCL, at least animation wise.
Both are good though I'd definitely recommend them.
