The trick with burglary was not to sneak but to crouch (I think it was R3 or L3). You'd move MUCH faster while still making no noise. You just had to avoid walking into walls which WOULD make noise.

Or you could do it the ghetto way and just run into the house, grab the shit, and run out before they called the police. After having done that you could immediately run back in and repeat it.
