I've never heard that, and I honestly doubted this enough that I just checked Snopes and did some googling. I can't find anything to disprove it, but I also can't find any other claims of this. Searches for "alligator jaw hair trigger" return a bunch of cosmetics stuff.

You might be thinking of a venus flytrap or something.
