I remember seeing an interview with the creator of animusic when I was younger. He designed a midi timing interface for his 3d program (3ds max?), in which it understood the length of a note playing sequence's animation, and at what point in the animation it would play the note. That way, it would time everything perfectly, anticipating the note and starting an animation (like a ball being tossed from the pipe), going through its hand-animated motions and based on a start, hit, and reset control motion everything else behind a note of the same value in a short time would seamlessly land itself as well, despite the instrument swaying back and forth.
Ultimately, he just had to animate each note doing its thing once and set up the timing, the rest was letting the midi controller keyframe the entire show so he could just play with camera angles.
for anyone wondering, ウスター (usutaa) is "Worcester"/"Worchestershire" (wersh-ta-shurr) as in the kind of sauce
In England we pronounce it (wust-er-shurr) because that's how you're supposed to say it.
