To close this little debate up:
Porpoises are actually in the family [i]Phocoenidae[/i], Dolphins are in [i]Delphinidae[/i]. Technically speaking, Porpoises are not Dolphins. Nor are any cetaceans related to bony fish regardless of their name "Dolphinfish[/i]." Belugas on the other hand are neither dolphins or porpoises, they are whales. The most noticeable difference being that whales do not have a dorsal fin(before someone brings up killer whales, Orcas are in fact dolphins, not whales). [i]Cetacea[/i] breaks up into the suborders [i]Odontoceti[/i] (toothed whales) and [i]Mysticeti[/i] (baleen whales). [i]Odontoceti[/i] contains the families: [i]Phocoenidae[/i](Porpoises), [i]Delphinidae[/i](Dolphins), and [i]Monodontidae[/i](Beluga & Narwhal) among others that are irrelevant to the debate. Taxonomy can be confusing.
As far as the intelligence of Cetaceans goes, There is much debate as to whether or not dolphins are smarter than most primates. Some argue that certain dolphin species are second only to homo sapiens. I've heard stories of whale trainers using music to keep the whales interested in what was going on, so I'm fairly certain that Beluga was listening mariachi band, and by the looks of it, was enjoying him/herself.
