I don't know that you quite understand the point of those images. It makes me feel you're being far too subjective about all your own experiences. Some people use humor to cope, others for fun, others for both. The person I know that happens to enjoy those "trolling tumblr" posts the most has had his mother die in a car crash and his brother shoot himself. Now, if what you say is true, he only finds those images funny because he's laughing as a viewer to other individuals having a hard time, but I'd rather say it's as someone that's dealt with his problems or sufferings and can have an internal and external perspective.
