Badass fact: not too long ago a rumor created by a-10 pilots was confirmed as fact. The a-10's gau-8 cannon is so powerful and puts out so much opposing thrust against the aircraft, that while the aircraft is at reduced speed for ground attacks (strafing runs), too long of a cannon burst can slow the aircraft to just above (and in some cases completely) stall speed.
Even more badass: the a-10's cannon only requires a fraction of the time it would take to stall the aircraft to wipe out a whole line of enemy tanks.
So, basically: BURRRP mission accomplished. (Yes, the gau-8 firing sounds like a loud burp)

Actually, that is not true. I saw somewhere a mathematical conclusion of the velocity of the fighter and the thrust from the recoil not being able to counter the strength/speed of the fighter.
