Well it is, in theory you can get ejected for faking an injury with the purpose of deceiving the ref.
The problem is there really is no time. The ref has to judge whether or not a situation was a genuine foul or a dive the instant it happens while two or more players are running fairly fast and pronounce his decision instantly and there are no instant replays. Think about the times a team tries to hurry up and snap the ball before a review can start and why that is done in American football.
Finally not many people realize this I think. While there are very very obvious dives (and someone is going to post a video in response I'm sure) there are also a lot of grey areas. No matter what you think it is not easy running full speed down a pitch, while trying to get away from defenders all the while trying to control a ball with your feet (not your hands mind you). Even a slight touch might throw your balance out and you might fall over. That might not be foul and the fans might not even realise the touch.
