if you throw a tree frog at volgin he'll get really scared and jump away raikov won't be distracted by porno mags killing the scientists and engineers lowers the shagohod's health
If you throw a ration down while Volgin is using his electric attack the electricity will be drawn to the metal case. If you throw food in front of The Fear he'll eat it. You can poison him with rotten food. If you hang off the ledge in Ocelot's boss fight the Ocelot Unit will laugh at you.
Metal Gear Solid 3 is one of the best games........period
Cant believe its been 10 years wow
10 years old and still awesome.
The End wasn't that bad imo.
speaking about the end, i've been playing this game for the first time and i have no idea how to find him maybe i should just wait for his stamina bar to go to 0

If yes, use them to look for his footprints and sneak behind him. (don,t forget to make him freeze)

You can see his footprints in the mud, even without thermals. Watch for the glint off his scope. Here are a couple of spoilery tricks I don't recommend reading, but just in case you want them: [sp]His parrot will land near you to let him know where you are. If you kill/tranq it he'll have a harder time finding you. If you tranq the parrot, capture it, then release it it'll fly back to him. If you eat the parrot he'll yell at you, don't be a dick. If he doesn't see you for a while he'll fall asleep, listen for his snoring and look for the Zs coming from him.[/sp]

Playing my 8th playthrough right now and I swear i'm always learning new stuff every time through. Like how you can use cardboard boxes and [sp]hop in trucks to get fast traveled to certain locations[/sp]. Easily one of my all-time favorites and has some of the most refined gameplay i've seen

Yea you could do it in Mgs1 as well, handy for [sp]going back to get the sniper rifle[/sp] and one or two more occasions I forget. Don't think you can do it in 2 or 4 tho

Yup! There's a truck at the helipad entrance at the very start (with the SOCOM in it), by the Tank boss, and at the area you aren't allowed to use your weapons. If you get all 3 boxes you can go between them all really easily. Didn't find it out on my first playthrough but it's proved really useful for other ones since it skips the backtracking
Decided to get the game on 3DS for a nice price because I never owned a PS2, and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Got to The End right now, damn he has a lot of health for someone with those looks. I'll probably play PW next to prepare for the Steam releases of GZ and TPP.

You can't in 4 because every chapter is a linear route so you have no reason to go backwards.
yea ive wondered if u could maybe use that box room in 2 to get around but ive never tried it
Metal Gear will always be my favorite fictional series. Played it for the first time during a rough time of my life and it really helped my somewhat messed up outlook on life, it sort of reminded me of what's important. I know that sounds cliche but I've always been grateful that these games existed.
I remember shooting down the beehives just to distract Ocelot, and he calls me out for it every time.
yea ive wondered if u could maybe use that box room in 2 to get around but ive never tried it
fairly sure the conveyors belt work perfectly fine and you can use them to quick travel
I remember playing this game on the PS2, and again on the HD Collection. Great gameplay, not-so-great story.
I remember playing this game on the PS2, and again on the HD Collection. Great gameplay, not-so-great story.
more like 1 of the best stories of any video game ?? [editline]20th December 2014[/editline] the Metal Gear universe is imo the best video game world+story
The best part of this game by far is Big Boss himself, it's probably the only metal gear solid game where the main character actually has good character development. Compared to Solid Snake, Big Boss actually seems human because he doesn't take himself too seriously. Seriously, play mgs3 then play mgs1 or 4 & you'll realise how much of an edgy emo twat Solid Snake is compared to Big Boss

Big Boss is just a normal man driven insane by the unfair world he's a part of.
Metal Gear Solid is much about pain if anything else. 4 concludes with the hero (Solid Snake) finally having the opportunity to rest after all the shit he's been through. Phantom Pain is where we see what happens to Big Boss. I mean, he's already a damaged dude. Lost part of his hand. Gains a horn. Has lots of scares. Kills his mentor. 3 really started what was yet to come and expand on later on in the series chronologically. And for me, that is amazing.
Metal Gear 1 was the best. played that shit on my non-smartphone. I remember beating big boss at the end.
I'd say the end is possibly the best boss in the series.
