Higurashi is probably in the same vein but I dunno.[/QUOTE] It's about this group of school kids who perform a ritual so they can stay friends forever, but it goes wrong and they get sucked into this alternate dimension which is the ruins of a school that was built over their own school, and it's haunted by a bunch of spirits who were killed in that school - the element I loved the most about the game was how everyone was on different "planes" in that dimension, where some planes were a bit backwards in time and some were forward. For instance, when you play as the first group you walk into a a splattered corpse on the wall, with no idea of whom it is. When you play as the next group, that wall isn't splattered, which leads one to understand what's going to happen in a short while. I suppose what I liked the most about it was the grimdark part of it. Very descriptive and gorey story - the first couple of minutes in the OVA was a great example of what I loved about it, the rest however not so much. Another could have fit that if it wasn't for it's terrible and laughable execution making all the deaths just silly and the whole show just dumb. So I don't really have anything to recommend there. Not a very usual thing to for anime to deal with seeing as most people want their pure innocent fapping material, and any blood and violence is more action oriented like Hellsing Ultimate where it's about being visceral rather than unsettling. I recognize the name and style but I'm not sure where from. As for unsettling, that's what I'm looking for really. I love horror, any variation of it. Both atmospheric and gorey. Amnesia was the best thing ever in that regard.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching it, but you could really tell they had a strict budget limit on animation/sound. It looked like a lot of frames were missing, especially when [sp]she got thrown up into the air and hallucinated[/sp]. The animation just simply wasn't fluid for a lot of the episode. Additionally the "action music" that happened 3/5ths of the way through sounded [i]terrible[/i]. I can tell where they were going with a lot of it, but they just couldn't make it happen with what they were given. It was also a little strange that it didn't show saki [sp]looking for satoru after the explosion, even for a little bit[/sp]. Other than (all of) that, I thought the episode was amazing.

Finally got around to finishing GitS: SAC 2nd GIG. It was pretty good but I didn't really understand some of it. Granted I watched it on and off but there were times where I couldn't really follow why the turn of events occurred.

For some reason I've been watching a lot of anime in the past 2 days. Started watching Ano Natsu de Matteru. It's pretty funny so far.

I've just finished reading the "Mysterious Girlfriend X" manga and am currently on episode 4 of the TV show. This is, without a doubt, the best TV show I've ever watched, and the best graphic novel or manga I've ever read, I highly, highly recommend both of them. It also may have given me a drool fetish.
