I never quite understood why Angel Beats was so popular. I dont think it was shit or anything, but it was pretty much just a whole bunch of nothin'. It felt like no story developed until the very last few episodes.

Angel Beats' OVA was the best to me.
The show itself was good, I liked it. Best show ever? probably not. best by the studio? definitely not, but it was enjoyable.
Seeing a preview screencap of Yuri with a Sniper Rifle was what got me to watch it upon release.
