Hello, decent time lurker here, just caught up with Psycho-Pass and i got to say it's great. but there were some things that just irked me and I figured I'd put it here.
I understand it's a show and thus needs to make drama, but the characters have shown great competence at their field most times, but then it falls though at some inopportune times.
Such as in EP 11 were [sp]Akane is having the stare down with Makishima as her dominator craps out, so he throws a shotgun down. Now, it was pretty obvious that he was a heavy criminal given he was
holding that chick hostage(who was one of Akanes best friends mind you) in a place where a firefight just got over.
So he's standing there telling Akane to take the shotgun and shoot him, but she just stands there with her useless dominator freaking out.(though she does eventually pick it up and shoot, if horribly.)
my complaint is that she's basically SWAT, shouldn't she have received training for hostage situations.[/sp]
[sp]And also...it's been shown that the dominators can miss, as well as tell the user to 'aim carefully.' so couldn't she have tried to "shoot" her friend and purposely miss, her friend was kinda freaking out so it would of at
least went to stun mode. Though that's not really a "hostage situation" thing to do[/sp]:v:

Oh and 16 [sp]Shuuseis death was just ridiculous, injured as he was he look strong enough and had enough time to walk over and take that dominator out of her hands. Guess he was to shocked to notice the deathray

Still a damn good show. especially since it can get me to spend all this time nitpicking for flaws.

[sp]The system she has relied on her whole life has just been rendered useless, the system that makes sure that fucked up people like Makishima stay off the streets.
It's a system everyone relies on, so they don't get pre-sybil system weapons training.[/sp]

[sp]This, and also: we saw her deal with a hostage situation in the first episode. She handled that situation perfectly (if you ignore how she reacted when they tried to shoot the hostage after they saved her, which would be a pretty normal reaction). The problem wasn't that someone was being held hostage, the problem was that HER BEST FRIEND was being held hostage. This mixed with her extreme sense of helplessness due to the dominator suddenly not working caused her to mess up.[/sp]

Kagari's left arm was completely useless, and he walked into the Sybil chamber with a limp, suggesting he wouldn't be able to move very fast at all; certainly not fast enough to dash the 10-15 feet to the Chief, and then grab the dominator from her much stronger cyborg arm before getting shot. Ordinarily it might be feasible for him to dodge the incoming energy blast, but because the dominator was set to decomposer mode, the blast diameter becomes several feet compared to several inches. All this combined with the shock of what he just witnessed makes it reasonable that he was killed.[/sp]
