Depends on what you're looking for. It's a relaxing laid back show with a good diversity in cast and characters (animals).
I find it quite enjoyable myself, and episode 44 was actually quite the dramatic one, got me shedding tears which came straight out of the blue, like, what the fuck, THIS show brought up an episode like this? Nice.
It's a show built upon a lot of repetition;
Polar Bear throws out jokes about similar sounding words and usually cracks jokes by making up shit that he makes some of the others believe.
Penguin is the guy that everyone ignores or interrupts because he's boring and thinks he's interesting despite being not interesting at all, tries to force in Rakugo every now and then later on in the series. Also plays a lot on a love interest in the start. He's that guy that has to be technical about things.
Panda is a boring fat lazy shit that's just downright stupid and ignorant of everything and just focuses on how cute he is and how unfair everyone is for not letting him sleep 24/7.
Grizzly Bear is Polar Bears best buddy and is the wild and cool guy that gets shit done and is surprisingly warm on the inside despite having a cold appearance. You know, your typical badass. Usually tossed around with or used by Polar Bear.
Llama is the one everyone ignores as his presence is so underwhelming nobody in the zoo even notices him, and he's boring and only cares about eating grass.
Handa is the zookeeper Panda gets close with, a guy that cares about rocks and practical things like cleaning and cooking.
Sasako is Handa's love interest without her knowledge of course. Appears smart, is actually quite dense, but normal otherwise, also only cares about things like cleaning and cooking.
And blah, there are so many characters that all get their good chunk of showtime. I think it's a good dynamic amongst the cast that really grows on you as the show goes on (really proven with the dramatic turn of events in episode 44 that I mentioned).
It's comfortably repetive and still manages to do a lot of diverse things within it's setting and explores the whole universe quite well through activities like camping, attending concerts for idols, learning about where some of them live and how they live, telling stories of their past and so on and so forth.
It's a surprisingly good show for what it is. It's a solid 7/10 overall.
Polar Bear Cafe's Baseball episode is the best episode.

That's Shiro Sagisu for you, I think the music is the best thing about Evangelion, specially the opening of the original series (which is the only thing I remember about it, everything else is all blurry)

I don't remember much about the original NGE, basically the opening song, some few scenes and the fact it had Fly Me To The Moon as its ending.
It's the same thing with other shows I watched around that time like Slayers, Isami, Nintama Rantarou or Escaflowne: their OPs are burned into my mind but not much of everything else.

Starts off promising, gets shittier, gets better again, falls down the drain, breaks it's own neck and all of it internal organs shoot out of every possible hole.
But it's still an 8/10 material for me, it's interesting, got a lot of stories to follow as well as mystery around every corner, just don't expect it to live up to what it seems like it could have been.

The VN is pretty good, it's just that the MC is a shit. Around halfway through he becomes so paranoid that he's not showing his shitness as much and it's pretty interesting. He does drag down the entire thing though.
