the last 'storyline' was apparently 3 months long, and hes going to make new comics (same characters) in more comic book format
but all of the funny ones are generally 4 panels, if you could call them funny

1. It's hardly his "last ever". I read his newspost - he's basically rebooting it. He's moving Ethan and the other characters to just story arcs, and promoting "the players" to full-character status, using them for the one-off gags he's sort-of good at.
2. I have a suspicion that he's actually a fairly-competent artist, but he's "stuck" doing the style he started with. I suspect part of the reason he's "ending" and rebooting the comic is so he can do a more significant art change.
