Reading this thread gave me the positive boost I needed today. Good work, everybody! Be proud of yourselves.

OK, so, it's the next day here for me. I decided to make what happened and people's contributions clearer by writing a timeline of events and a list of contributors. So, Sobotnik came to me talking about being depressed and taking copper sulfate and zinc pellets like I said before. I was the only one he approached about it. From there, I tried to talk him down, and failed. I panicked, and went on Facepunch and asked what to do in WAYT and the Depression thread, then I got his IP Address, and figured about where he lived. I called the police in his city and told them what was going on and gave them all the info about him I knew personally, and they said they'd get working on it. I was about to stop for the rest of the night but I just didn't feel right. I felt like, guilty that I hadn't done more or that it was still up in the air. So I decided to add a bunch of random people from his friends list in the hopes one of them knew anything about him that could help me. I didn't get much of anything, but I did just happen to add JoeSkylynx. I told him what happened, and he immediately got the same drive to help. He started talking to people while I continued adding Sobotnik's friends, and talking to the police. They had me take screenshots, and answer a bunch of questions. Joe also went ahead and made this thread in the hopes that anyone knew information about him. Any time Joe got more information, I dialed the police again and gave them that info. Thanks to people here's contributions and people Joe talked to, we were able to go from an IP address and 'Someone who's most likely in X' to being able to give them enough concrete information to find him quickly and get him to safety. All in all it took about 6-7 hours, starting at about 9 pm my time and we got the call back about him being safe at almost 3 am my time. A list of those who contributed information or even just a lead, who deserve your thanks (Their contributions will remain anonymous I suppose, but I'll have you know they all were essential in getting him help): Native Hunter, Wingz, Doctor Zedacon, DainBramageStudios, NiandraLades, and OvB. And of course, the police in Sobotnik's city who were absolutely patient, helpful, and understanding, and didn't just brush me off as some kid making a prank from another country. If I'm forgetting anyone let me know and I'll add you to the list.

I promise you it's worth it, in a little while you'll have moments where you'll be glad you're still alive. Depression and bipolar are sometimes the most painful illnesses there are. I dont know sobotnik myself, but im glad he's okay. And im glad that another life wasnt taken away by this horrible condition. I got a warm fuzzy feeling just by looking at your cooperation, you guys are awesome.

Suicide is perhaps one of the cruelest realities in our universe. The human psyche can be so infinitely dark.

And to think i came here originally to help out people in the gmod section, and instead become part of the community. Get well soon

Uhh dunno this might seem dark and I am not trying to stir up shit I just know some people who have done like Sobotnik. Is attempted suicides illegal? Again NOT trying to stir up "is euthanasia a sin/etc", just wondering on a legal level where it stands
