At NO point did I say that anime is the best artstyle ever lol. I only said that it's idiotic to make such comparisons and judgements with so little knowledge of what you're attacking. Fuck, my favorite "style" are Renaissance works. But that's BESIDES the point, isn't it? [editline]03:12AM[/editline] I don't see what's wrong with being thorough and covering all your bases
Nay.
agreed
Nay.
Should have posted the bigger version.
Should have posted the bigger version.
why are you on his side dont you hang out with the cats of fast anime
Is this thread just generally about Anime, or about the thread Fast Anime? Also, trying to tell someone that Anime is art is like telling them God exists. Or telling someone who hates Furries that Catgirls aren't Furries. It's best to just respect people for what they think. I like Anime, and I'm not going to run off and bash the first person that says Anime is crap and needs to be bombed off the face of the Earth. Don't be so quick to judge and say irrational things. Be wise and sit back and think about what you're going to say, or don't say anything at all.
why are you on his side dont you hang out with the cats of fast anime
So? What's your point?
Fucking wow. [editline]08:02PM[/editline] Box.
Read the whole damn thing you halfwit. I didn't at all say anime is the best. Fuck, both those images are from japan anyway.
Manime
yay
You people seem to have a misconception that for something to be art, it has to be critically praised or be hanging in a galleria somewhere. The fact is that even a stick figure is considered art. It may be shitty art, but it is still art.
I can "stand" Elfen Leid and Dokuro Chan but... that's it.
Never mind classics like Astro Boy, never mind award-winners like Spirited Away, never mind emotional films like Grave of the Fireflies. Give this guy gratuitous blood and sexual innuendo.
Manime
Wanime

I am surprised at the amount of yays. It truly is true that FP has improved on that area.

wee-a-boo
Is this thread about Anime in general? or the thread Fast Anime?
Vintage art style + huge tits = bad
Just making a point.I don't like anime either.
You moron, they are both art regardless of you personal tastes. Each of them have been made for their own purposes, making the styles very different. In fact I would go so far as to say that while the bottom picture may not be that great looking in comparison, it serves it's purpose well. However, as for the top image which is supposed to be a museum piece, is bad for what it is. It's a mediocre and overrated piece of work, that has barely any semblance of creativity whatsoever. Fuck, if you were educated you would know that the image you selected was done by a "Superflat" artist, superflat being a deconstruction of the "anime" style of drawing and thus has aspects of the group of illustrations that you are criticizing. Furthurmore I would say that as a work of "museum art" that piece belongs on a portfolio rather than a wall. It is no more than a highly detailed version of something a kindergartner would draw. You also forget how much work goes into animation. Also for all you people criticizing anime because you saw a few shows. That's because the shows you watched were utter tripe; and not only is it moronic to judge a whole industry after witnessing one or two of their shows, but it just goes to show that you're immature as well. Inb4 someone insults me but can't even come up with a refutation.
sorry for this bump but holy shit you do realise that superflat is a focus on the satire of modern japanese animation and how completely soul-less it is? take this work for an example. here you see a character with the features of modern "moe" stylization transposed onto a scene which can be described as miyazaki-influenced, showing how flat and uninteresting the moe character is compared to actual good works of animation superflat isn't derived from anime, it is SATIRE.
Anyone called me?
Everyone to their own. I don't mind either way.
I'm trying to watch ponyo
Horrible movie. But then again. Miyazaki is pretty bad. It's just the same old childrens movies all over again. But I guess people still have a hard on for Disney and Pixar movies without it being nostalgia.
Horrible movie. But then again. Miyazaki is pretty bad. It's just the same old childrens movies all over again. But I guess people still have a hard on for Disney and Pixar movies without it being nostalgia.
never has anyone been so wrong
Horrible movie. But then again. Miyazaki is pretty bad. It's just the same old childrens movies all over again. But I guess people still have a hard on for Disney and Pixar movies without it being nostalgia.
what are you doing
never has anyone been so wrong
Never has anyone been so overrated.
what are you doing
The same shit I've always been doing. I don't care about the million boxes I'm going to get. Miyazaki is overrated. He's like the Japanese version of Disney and/or Pixar. But I've already seen a shit ton of Disney and Pixar movies and can't honestly say I see any speck of originality in his works (nor Pixar and Disney) other than creature designs.
