It gets complicated for most foreign people because female things can have male articles in the genitive case: The Mother Die Mutter with the male article "der" Das Auto der Mutter Nice is that you can build long words because in German you put together 2 nouns and form a new one. That happenes in english, too but only with old words like crossbow. Normally in English you'd say stuff like this: wall bracket In German you have the two nouns Wand and Halterung and you make the word Wandhalterung out of it. One of the famous long words is Donaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitänsmützenrandaufschrift. You can also make very long sentences. Morgen Vormittag, nachdem ich gefrühstückt habe, werde ich, sofern ich mir nicht den Fuß breche, was öfter mal passiert, mir die Schuhe, die gestern aus der Reinigung gekommen sind, anziehen, und, sofern ich, ich armer Unglückswurm, nicht, wie so oft von meiner Mutter, wie auch letzten Dienstag, eingesperrt werde [I]here I got confused.. *thinks*[/I], zum Supermarkt, der letztens Neueröffnung feierte, gehen, und mir zwei leckere, frisch gebackene, knusprige, und teure Brötchen kaufen. That's like 10 different Sentences in one and I don't even want to think about translating that.

Wenn ist das Nunstruck git und Slotermeyer? Ja! Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput! Monty Python gefallt mir, aber es macht keinen Sinn. Yeah, I can sort of say stuff in German, but my vocabulary and grammar is really bad. But it's a great language and a lot nicer an area to live in than the US (in general).
