I suffer from insomnia, however I always fall asleep during the day. I hate this situation despite I love the night.

The problem is mostly that the term depression is pretty much misused so often and thus tainted just like term feminism.

I know what you mean dude. And it's not just Facepunch, a few people I interact with off the internet generally have no clue what depression is and throw the word around like it's the most funniest thing ever. I have heard someone say that "depressed people have no reason to be depressed", like legit, someone said that before. Because apparently "there are people that care for them" and "they are just being selfish assholes who don't think about anyone else." Depression is more complex then what most people think. However, I kind of wish more people were educated about it instead of going through life not knowing how bad it can get.
The line "suicide is selfish" makes me so unbelievablably mad. It baffles me that people can be so damn ignorant.
As of now I've only ever been considered attractive by gay men, married moms and little girls.
For once I'd like to hear some admiration from a girl my age.
Send the gay men over here.

Finally, FINALLY one that agrees with me. God it really makes me mad too, and upsets me.

I know people who are still alive to this very day because of the "suicide is selfish" view.
I'm not sure if suicide is selfish or not, I've had a good amount of thoughts about ending it, but ultimately, knowing that it'll upset my loved ones and I'll never see what my future will be like keeps me going. If you're terminally ill, or so depressed you can't handle the pain, then suicide should definitely be a consideration imo

At this point it wouldn't be considered as suicide, it would be more of euthanasia.
[editline]Butts[/editline]
Also at that point it wouldn't be selfish neither, let's say you are in constant severe physical pain, I doubt your loved ones wouldn't want you to suffer neither.
do people actually like, kiss first thing in the morning?
I usually have fucking horrible morning breath. can't just be me.
I do but don't use any tongue or shit like that, just a peck before I head off to work/class
Reminds me when there is a discussion on bullying (especially online bullying) and most people from FP just basically say "just turn your PC off and walk away lolol" or "Stop being weak and getting hurt by words."
Which is most likely said by sheltered people who've had zero first-hand experience.
Pretty much any mean or nasty thing said to me by people sticks, and bullying in school when I was younger has led to depression and social anxiety. It's hard to "grow a thicker skin" when I get easily upset at times.
I know people who are still alive to this very day because of the "suicide is selfish" view.
so what? telling people about that view isn't going to work for everyone considering suicide, and for some it will make everything worse
it's not worth the risk to tell them that view, things can go to hell real fast

I never said you tell them that, that is what they have told me, guilt tripping yourself out of going through suicide because it would affect others, putting others before your own happiness and well being.

Isn't... isn't that the definition of unselfishness... though?
Putting your own happiness and well being before others' is selfish, and suicide is putting your own happiness and well being before others', so...
Like I get that it's a hurtful thing to call somebody selfish, but nobody so far has actually made any arguments that suicide is not a selfish thing to do, except in limited circumstances (euthanasia, mainly). If you're considering suicide, it's not like you're in a perfectly rational mental state capable of judging everybody else's opinions, so it's inherently selfish.
Not saying it's the best way to handle a suicidal person, but suicide is selfish.
Tbh, i sorta see where the "suicide is selfish" thing comes from, but i know that its one of the dumbest things you can tell a depressed person
Tbh, i sorta see where the "suicide is selfish" thing comes from, but i know that its one of the dumbest things you can tell a depressed person
It makes sense if you look at it from a completely detached, outside perspective

At the risk of sounding like an asshole, I'd still pursue the goal of having the capability to shrug off insults, if I were you. It's hard to do and can take up to years for some to get to that point, but ultimately it'll be one of the most worthwhile things you will ever do.
Of course, I can't say that you should let people walk all over you. If you do that, then you'll probably feel even worse than beforem
I got my septum pierced  which I've wanted to do for a long time. My parents hate it and my job doesn't allow it but my boss doesn't care.
Empathy is actually really hard for most of people.
I believe empathy is mostly learned-either by experience or hearing about it- rather than "natural/instinctual". Thus people who never thought about suicide, who never contemplated it or had someone in their circle go through it and explain it to them, expecting these people to empathize is hard.
Before and during the paleolithic era, suicide was very rare. When human beings decided to spend their days indoors not getting exposed to enough UV-light, which makes the skin synthesize cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) increasing the level of serotonin in your brain by epigenetic module activation, problematic behaviors, such as depression, anxiety and autism were on the rise.
We have a 3 billion year old gene-pool filled with genes that are unused, I'm sure some of the epigenetic functions tell the genes to apply autistic behaviors as an evolutionary product of coping with being more alone too and therefore having an altered empathetic brain region, exacerbating depression in society, since empathy has the property of applying purpose and direction in life. "Who's the hunter?" "Who's making clothes?" "Who's gathering water?" For example. People end up feeling purposeless, meaningless, worthless, dumb, inferior and other things the psychological inner critic tells you. This leads to a more and more cynical approach to life, until you eventually reach the conclusion "The world is just cruel, pointless and sad, good bye.".
no it doesn't.
from a cold detatched perspective it looks like a bunch of entitled cunts acting like someone owes them their continued existence unconditionally.
Wouldn't a curse word be a secular moral standpoint in this instance? The whole point of being detached is making morality invalid so objectivity can be reached. No emotional evaluation. Same goes with selfish.

So that means, if I spend more time under the sun I will be less likely to feel worthless and weird? All this time, my problems with feeling like everyone is mean and bad and probably against me, it's just the effect of not being exposed enough to sunlight?
Anyways, content.
I like smelling my own clothes after using them.

There's no source, this is all a big religious revelation.
There's no source, this is all a big religious revelation.
You can't make a claim like "lack of UV light makes us lose our sense of purpose" without a source.

No, those are just personal psychological issues.

You're doing it again, bud.
When I was a wee lad and had an old ass desktop, I played Pokemon in a emulator, since I didn't have speakers, I'd call out all of my mons moves and sound effects
I was dissapointed when they were different from what I imagined them to be
You're doing it again, bud.
Confusion, hyper focused mental state, loose associations.. I'm hypomanic, aren't I? I'm going to focus on something else for a while.
I hate happy people. Yes I'm bitter and unhappy
I don't know if I really want to spend my life with another person. I just enjoy being alone. Am I a social wreck?
