Asked out my friend last night. I made a post in the social advice thread a few weeks ago saying that my friends spilled the beans about her liking me when I was telling them that I liked her. I've been pussyfooting around it because every time I've ever asked someone out I was rejected.
After an hour long walk through light snow where we talked about crutches that we've seen ourselves falling into, our parents, past love interests, etc. it went like this:
"Can I be entirely honest with you, E?"
"Of course."
"You know that text I sent you the Friday before Valentine's day? The one asking if you had a minute before you went home for the weekend."
"Yeah I remember it."
"I wanted to meet with you in person to ask you out."
"I know, and if I'm being honest I was gonna say yes."
"Hey, E, you want to go out?"
"Yes."
It feels like a huge weight off of my shoulders after awkwardly navigating it for like 3 weeks. We agreed to keep it really slow and on the DL just in case it doesn't work out (none of her previous relationships have worked out bc they went too fast and she wasn't comfortable, this is my first relationship and I'm letting her set the pace because I want her to be comfortable and being close to someone emotionally is enough to satisfy me), so we're not applying any labels to anything right now. So here's to hoping that it works out.

For someone who has tons of trans friends and a trans girlfriend, I absolutely loathe it and everything about drag queen culture. They can do what they want to do but I feel like it's almost a mockery of LGBT everything and it makes me super uncomfortable that it's so amazingly popular while LGBT issues are still really being ignored...
I get that this sounds tumblrish but it's like one of the few things on TV that really just comes off as annoying and offensive.

I see it as something completely different.
I see it as guys who love to have fun being someone else for entertainment. They are entertainers. Its nothing to do with trans people and that connection should be completely void. (And if trans people get offended by queens then they really need to re-evaluate why they're annoyed by it). These guys create their characters and express their other side of their personality, most of the time its an alter-ego or someone they dream to be characteristically. They can be anything they want but still just take off their wigs and make up to come back to their other life. They live the best of both worlds and i'm kind of jealous they can do that. Its not mocking LGBT at all. If i could change from being my dorky self to someone i dream to be, i would, but it would be harder for me to attach a beard, grow to 6ft5 and gain 100lbs in muscle just so i could be a "Drag King" since i'd love to be a much manlier version of myself for entertainment purposes and then come back to my dorky self again.

What do you mean? It seems to go from honest confessions, to humor, to some discussion about whatever, to dildos, and back to honest confessions. It looks like a general cycle to me.
