Engineering is more ugly calculation than hard math. On every electricity and magnetism exam I had there was one question that required no physics, and was just some ugly vector operator calculation and I picked it every time because it's a dozen times easier than a problem that requires real thought
Engineering is taking the idealizations of basic physics and making them as unideal as possible to make them more applicable to real world simulation

My university is famous because roughly 80% of the engineering students fail differential calculus and linear algebra every year.
