Yes it's not quite likely we'll see humans on foreign planets in quite some time, one part being it being really, really expensive to maintain a supply-chain between earth and a foreign planet and the other is that robots can do pretty much anything we can do, but better and without ever having to stop to rest or breath air.
And so? As the technology gets better, the "lowly plebes" will get a chance to move out from earth in due time, and being able to put people on other planets mean we will have come a long way in terms of space exploration, and even if it means only the richest live there it is still a human achievement.
Being able to sustain human life on other planets would be a great thing for mankind, it would mean we'd have intricate knowledge on how the environment works (we have a pretty good grasp as it is, but this success would mean we would have the know-how to successfully geo-engineer a planet, which would be a huge boon to us since we're pretty darn close to destroying our own planet unless we do something NOW).
We might be neck deep in wars, povery, crime racism etc, but as you're probably quite aware we have still come a long, long way in the last 100 years. Hell, you could even go for the past 50 years, and even last 10 years. Mankind has shown again and again that we evolve, some times for the worse, but in the end it is always for the best.

This is why I am kind of agitated with America (and maybe the rest of the world, I dont know if they think the same so I cant place judgement) is that they're completely cutting out space exploration and study. Earth isn't special, and we WILL need to colonize planets if we want to survive past a few million years as a species (which will happen eventually), but were destroying our own earth currently and no one gives a shit. I remember I watched this program on this christian talk show host who said, on air, "destroy my planet, use up all the resources, I dont care, for I will be with God in the gates of heaven before anything happens", the epitome of selfish. I'm a huge astronomy geek, and I want to pursue it as my future career, but I wont be able to here in America.
