I joined, because I realized that this is where all of the gmod addons come from.
I saw some garry's mod videos on youtube and got interested in it. I finally bought it in Dec 2007 and started lurking.
Then in Feb 08, I had a problem with an addon that was maintained here, so I joined to bitch about it in the Lua section.
For a while I posted a fair amount in the contraptions forum, but I never made anything very good and just got annoyed at he circlejerking. Then I assaulted GD with my presence, but nobody noticed.
When TF2 trading started up, I spent a while loitering around the TF2 section. I eventually got bored of the whole thing, sold my max's head for a load of shit and raffled it all off.
In 2011 I joined the second Cumbrian camping trip with Hezzy & crew. We drank loads, sang songs, spoke American and drew on eachother. This still hasn't been beaten as my top experience of the decade so far.
I also went to the 2012 camping trip, where we roasted chocolate raisins, drank hot wine and got rained on.
I consider these trips a big part of my facepunch story, without them I wouldn't be the man I am today. I also wouldn't have my avatar.
Since then I've migrated to FT, where I spout vast quantities of pointless shit (such as the text you've just finished reading).
I joined because it was posted on another forum I went to at the time...
and like, yeah. That's the only reason. It's been on and off posting.
It all started back when I first played Garry's Mod 9. It was back in 2006. I got into a random RP server and met many of my present friends. One of them had an idea to start up a forum dedicated to the game, so I joined it and became a Moderator there. The forum was really a hit and I met many more people there. I got into Posing and eventually found out about PHW Online. I don't think that exists anymore. Then I heard about Facepunch there somewhere. Then there was War of the Servers that further made me find out about it.
I was watching a load of GMod videos on Youtube, I think it started off with a GMod version of 'crabs' off weebls stuff. Saw a load of other videos such as the big random GMod movies of doooom and all of halflifeman's stuff, before moving onto the more well-known machinimas like WotS and Dirty Garry, which were pretty great. Loved the videos, wanted to be a part of the game. My time in GMod had nothing to do with Facepunch and I just dismissed it as a name that happened to be near the link to garrysmod.org on the GMod homepage after I'd bought it.
Eventually got GMod at the very early days of GMod 10 and found FP while bored a long while after. Been making myself more of a waste of space since then, I guess.

I think crabs was my first glimpse of GMod too. I wonder how many people's journeys towards facepunch began with that video?

I first played Garrysmod in 2004 when I was only 13, I got HL2 for Christmas and was busy installing it when I found Gmod by coincidence through the Filefront website for HL2 ([url=http://halflife2.filefront.com/file/HalfLife_2_Garrys_Mod_V2;35185]This download to be precise[/url], surprised its still there)
I discovered/registered on Facepunch a few months later and played around with Facewound, but I wasn't really interested in posting. After Garrysmod 9 I spent most of my time looking in the Lua section for cool scripts.
In early 2011 I came back after a long time and realized SS/ITNN were really good sources of general and gaming news. At this point I had like 3 posts but I started posting in threads there every so often, then I slowly moved into lurking and eventually posting in other sections. I was lucky because by the time Garry added the new requirements for Gold I was included (100 posts and 5 years or something)
I went to camp FP 2012 and had a great time, and now I just check the news sections and GMF a couple of times a day.

Some of those Filefront comments on the mod are hilarious. The whole comment section turned into a shitstorm because Garry used 'dead babies' instead of 'baby dolls' in the description. Got banned 3 or 4 times in the first 2 weeks for being a horrid poster
I've been lurking for about a year and made my account in January so I could keep lurking about with some sort of identity.
I've posted a few times but for the most part I just lurk because I'm afraid I'm not good enough.

i had a question about garry's mod. i knew that this was the place to ask questions, so i made an account and yeah.
i made some embarrassingly dumb posts.
i come here now mostly for the general boards and the deviantart appreciation station.
i was the inspiration for the 'ideas guy' threads
A friend of mine who played gmod a lot joined here sometime in 2010, got a different friend of mine (also an avid gmoder) to join, in the end they both convinced my to join. I never really played gmod, except round his and I mainly joined for LMAO pics, now both of my friends have like 100 posts still, and I have 3000 odd.
