Stay there man. It'll be worth it in the long run. I'm telling you, I'm a freshman in college. Junior year was my least favorite year of high school, not to mention I failed and went to summer school the following summer. I struggled with depression, panic attacks, nervous breakdowns. F's out the ass at some points. Senior year came along and definitely wasn't as stressful or difficult. I made decent grades, turned in most of my work on time, and just enjoyed being a senior. Senior year feels a lot better because you have something to look forward to, GRADUATION. They'll tell you at the beginning of the school year "Senior year will fly by people". At first, I thought it was just the bullshit like they usually give us, but boy was I way wrong. I'm telling you. Think graduation. 99% of us hate school, this special day is not only one of the best in your life, but also one of the saddest. Graduation is the last day you see a lot of people for the rest of your life. It's also the day you get the fuck out of high school. It'll all be worth it. Just keep your grades up and stay for the ride. Plus, even though a GED is equivalent to a high school diploma, a high school diploma looks way better on your resume. Shows you put in enough effort not to quit. You also have to understand that it is high school. The shittiest of the shit. Don't quit. Don't give up just because technically you're "allowed" to. Push through it, find a new hobby, get into your school work. Try and actually enjoy the things you do at school. Be more optimistic about things, set goals for yourself to accomplish. That'll raise your self esteem for sure. Junior year flew by for me too. Stick it out and it'll work out in the end. Think of it now. The day after graduation waking up in the morning with a high school diploma. It's the summer before college and you can sit back and relax, or find a job. Believe me you'll be happy you stayed if that's what you choose to do. I wish you the best of luck with your decision. - Justin.
I hate high school. Every day that I have to show up, I feel a little more depressed. Whenever I speak of my feelings, the usual response is "just deal with it." Am I wrong for disliking high school? I feel like the information being taught is not practical or applicable for what I want to do in life. I feel as if I'm being judged on my ability to repeat the same mundane tasks instead of my intelligence. I want out. I talked to my parents about it, and after a large amount of bitching pointlessly at them, and getting bitched pointlessly at, I got a compromise. My parents will let me take the GED and leave high school if I get a job and a car. Is this opportunity worth it? What do you think I should do, Facepunch? I am 16 years old and in 11th grade.
So you find it too easy and boring? Do you guys have honors classes, IB, or AP? Do those or whatever is challenging.
How much money do you have saved up for the car?
We're beating a dead horse here guys...
Just let him drop out. He seems to not give a fuck.
Why not say fuck it and panhandle? Then you can play music, be in the outdoors, and make cash without even getting your GED. When people call you a lazy bum just say "I am not lazy, I am a unique individual" hell even if you are arrested you get food and a place to stay, and if you invest in a harmonica you can even keep playing music
OP after he realizes there is no money in music and only has a High School GED.
at least he has a nice beard, he is like hobo santa
You talk about jobs as if they're handed out at the local store. Get your head out of your ass and finish high school. You only have a year left for fuck's sake, suck it up and finish strong. It would be stupid to go through 3 years of school, have 1 left and say "I cant do this anymore"
[editline]19th October 2011[/editline]
And none of this "individuality" stuff either. You think employers care about that? If there's someone with a high school diploma and someone with a GED they'd much rather get the person with the diploma
You realize that over three quarters of musicians never make enough to get by? Most musicians have a full-time job and do music on the side, not the other way around.

Also, if people can't get jobs now with college degrees, what makes you think that you'll do any better with a GED?
