What I might witness by the time I die, which would probably be 2075:
- Most Sub Saharan African nations being as developed as South Africa is today.
- Latin America unionizing into one nation based on lowering corruption rates and sharing common ancestry.
- Chinese aggression, war with India/Russia, eventual communist collapse and then democracy.
- Large coastal cities being flooded due to global warming, world governments have no choice but to use clean energy.
- Immunities to most diseases and lifespans up to 160 years (insert Futurama reference here).
- Asteroid mining companies becoming widespread, rare minerals lose value but electronics are now very cheap.
- Canada becoming a larger power in the world due to increasing population and global warming making northern Canada habitable.
- Civil war in India dividing the country into many small nations.
- European Union becoming one nation, the world's largest democracy and moral rival to the USA
- About 30% of Earth's species become extinct, other species adapt and live off of human waste.
- The developed world becomes more liberal, gay marriage legalized in a lot more countries and most drugs legalized.
- Old people become a larger burden on society and traditions like Lapot become common.
Majority of population will be non-religious. The only ones left are cultists and closed off families.
I wouldn't be surprised if some completely crazy new particle or technique for manipulating particles is discovered that will allow us to create super engines or something. I bet space would have at least some permanent population by now if escape velocity was cheap.
