You're using a strawman with that argument of yours, no you wouldn't be on top of the social ladder if you killed everyone else, you would most definietly be on the bottom of it. There's a major difference between killing animals of some other species, and killing your own species. Just like eating the flesh of another species and eating the flesh of your own.
Over-population is a problem if there is no balance, a certain area can only sustain a certain amount of animals, if there are too many of one species without anything to naturally cull it (in our case, predators to kill herbi/omnivores) then you will have a problem because the animals will eat too much. The same applies when there are too many predators, there won't be enough food to sustain that population.
It has nothing to do with happiness.
You're being naive if you don't think there are dumb vegetarians, and you would be naive to think that all carnivores are dumb. There are definietly a good balance between smart/stupid people of each preference of diet.

His argument, if I understood it correctly, concerned itself merely on ebing on the top of the food chain, if you dislike my analogy then fine, just erradicate all other species. And killing everybody else would put me on both the top and bottom of the social ladder, since it would be comprised only by me. Secondly, no there isn't. Everything good or bad, including over-population and its consequences, boil down to happiness or unhappiness, because those are the only things that have worth (positive or negative) in itself, that do not need further validation.
And I wasn't saying that, I was just making an observation since facepunch, as far as I can tell, has deep scorn for vegetarians, basing themselves on the assumed fact that they are dumb.
