try looking for flavored waters or fruit waters orrr like uhh. like those little go packets for water bottles. i carry a huge water bottle with me everywhere i go. im less worried about gaining fat, obvs, but i get dehydrated really quick so it's a matter of drinking water or passing out lmao.

It's not an inevitability or anything but yeah the more sugar you're drinking on the regular, the more likely it'll be to develop somewhere along the line.
And diabetes is lame and not fun.
Most people here are still pretty young though so you have time to turn things in the opposite direction.

Eat protein, fruit and greens. Eat as much of that as you want. Just stay away from carbs and sugar and fat.

Carbs are good for you and sometimes necessary in moderation, depending on what type they are. Again though, in moderation. Don't eat an entire loaf of bread or entire bowl of pasta.
And the flavored shit is a recommendation for people who need to wean themselves off of soda for them to be successful. Some people who go straight from soda to no soda can suffer things like withdrawal, especially if those sodas have caffeine in them.
Going from soda to flavored water with maybe a much smaller amount of sugar is a much easier transition than going straight to nothing but water sometimes.

i also remember getting dehydrated during a track meet and boy was that not fun at all
Carbs are also helpful if you're a student with early morning classes. They give you a small boost, especially if paired with things that have protein.

If you struggle with drinking water but also like little phone apps, try Plant Nanny. It keeps track of how much water you need to drink a day depending on your weight and lifestyle, and when you drink water, your little plant gets watered and it grows as you go.

That's why I go buy reusable water bottles. Fill em up, stick em in the fridge or freezer. Maybe have like 3 or 4 and every time I finish one, refill it, stick it back in there. That way I always have a cold one ready to go.
But the temptation to grab something from the fridge is rly easy, so that might be a way to use that to your advantage, rather than something that fucks you up lol
