You can't say with a straight face "I need to turn on LaneWatch every time I merge right because I literally cannot see a fucking thing in my blind spot." In other news, my front door's peephole doesn't work, so every time I need to see who's at the door, I just walk out the side door and go look outside. Very convenient and smart system!
LaneWatch is a stupid, cheap, ineffective, and somewhat dangerous response to actual blind spot monitors. All it does is give you a fourth mirror in the middle of your dashboard that does essentially the same thing as your other mirrors when they're properly adjusted (that is, not showing your own car). You shouldn't be looking down at your center console to try to determine if there is a car in your blind spot.
Also, the EX has the CVT standard. There is no such thing as an EX manual. You can't say that a CVT is "pure sex in car form". Sorry.
Blind spot cameras are a trash band aid to a problem that shouldn't exist.

I'm saying LaneWatch is Honda's half-assed response to two things: the proliferation of blind spot monitors by every other car manufacturer (which are [i]far, far[/i] safer and more useful in traffic), and the fact that their car is designed to have an enormous blind spot that they didn't fix because "aesthetics".
Not saying you are a bad person for wanting a Civic, but it is a fundamentally bad design with a bad hack of a workaround to not being able to see out the opposite side of the car. Honda's engineers should know better than to pawn off a glorified backup camera as a solution to their own screwed up design.

Pillars have bloated in size in the last twenty years. I can barely merge with traffic from the center divider lane in my father's Honda SUV because the rear pillars are so ludicrously oversized that I can't see oncoming traffic with anything other than the door mirror.
Side cameras are a bandaid for a problem that shouldn't exist. It's great to have them, but they shouldn't be [I]necessary[/I] to safely drive the car.

I'm not a regulationologist but I get the feeling that you could get rid of the plastic parts on the rear hatch on the sides of the window and it would go a long, long way in the way of visibility. I seriously doubt those are serving any significant structural purpose. It's just the design.

I honestly really like Red Panda AE86s a lot more. White Panda is overdone anyways. I'm going to repaint mine red panda at some point. I do prefer the Zenki (early model, 1983-1985) AE86, especially the front bumper, which I have, but the Kouki (late model, 1986-1987) ones look pretty slick too. Especially the Kouki tail lights.
